The San Diego Union-Tribune

Business Objects acquiring S.D. software firm

UNION-TRIBUNE

October 5, 2005

Privately held San Diego software company Infommersion is being acquired by Business Objects for $40 million.

Established in 2002, Infommersion develops and markets data presentation software. The company's products convert data into interactive graphic formats, such as turning Excel data into a malleable graphic for a PowerPoint presentation or the Internet.

The all-cash deal, which software company Business Objects announced yesterday, is subject to regulatory approval. Business Objects plans to complete the transaction by the end of the fourth quarter.

A Business Objects spokesman said that Infommersion's 75 San Diego-area employees will be integrated into the company and that there are no plans at this time to move its offices or staff.

Publicly traded Business Objects has dual headquarters in San Jose and Paris with more than 3,000 employees. The software company provides products for businesses to track, understand and manage their company's information, which it calls business intelligence software.

"Bringing these products together really enables us to reach businesses that aren't using business intelligence today," said Steve Wooledge, senior products marketing manager for Business Objects.

Infommersion executives could not be reached yesterday for comment.
