Encinitas spotlight

The community is invited to join a public ceremony of prayer and music to honor those affected by Sept. 11 and to mark the 100th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's first public campaign of nonviolence, which took place on Sept. 11, 1906.

The ceremony is sponsored by the San Dieguito Interfaith Ministerial Association, in conjunction with communities around the world.

It will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Moonlight Beach, at the west end of B Street in Encinitas.

Olivenhain Outdoor Cinema Series: The Olivenhain Town Council hosts the third annual series to raise funds for the continuing restoration of the Germania Hotel. Live music begins at 6 p.m. tomorrow at the Olivenhain Meeting Hall grounds, 423 Rancho Santa Fe Road, Encinitas.
