Local spotlight: Mother's Day service

May 10, 2008

The Salvation Army's Kroc Center Church is hosting a Mother's Day service at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Mount Helix's amphitheater. The outdoor service will be led by Capt. John Van Cleef. The East County park is south of Interstate 8 between Bancroft Drive and Avocado Boulevard. Information: krocchurch.org.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

San Diego Hospice needs volunteers in the areas of caregiver support, companionship, errands, pharmacy delivery couriers, handymen and clerical assistance, including word processing. There is a minimum commitment of four hours a week for direct patient involvement, and the next required training course is in July.
