The SDSU softball team won its fourth Mountain West Conference championship in seven seasons after beating host UNLV 6-0 yesterday.
The Aztecs (43-15, 15-5) earned the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The team is hosting an NCAA Selection Show watch party at 7 tonight in the auditorium of the Aztec Athletics Center.
SDSU pitcher Christina Ross (30-12) went the distance, allowing just two hits. SDSU scored one run in the fifth before exploding for five in the seventh. Tamani Wells was 3-for-3, Megan McDonald 2-for-2 and Jen Wisneski 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Aztecs.

The UCSD men's team was second in the varsity eight heat at the National Invitational Collegiate Regatta in Worcester, Mass. The Tritons' time of 6 minutes, 11.59 seconds, was just behind Trinity College (6:06.67) . . . In women's racing, SDSU's varsity eight boat was first in the petite final at the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia. The Aztecs won in 6:35.868.
